Leading with impact this Earth Day

Earth Day is a moment to look beyond intentions and focus on impact.

In the textile industry, responsibility starts with action: Improving systems, implementing processes and tracking progress to reduce the environmental impact of our business.

At Stanley/Stella, decarbonisation is a top priority.

We have committed to reducing carbon emissions by -30% by 2030. Since launching this ambition three years ago, nearly half of the reduction has already been achieved. We monitor impact across every step of the value chain, from the farm to the factories to our logistics providers, and by carefully selecting partners that share our vision and commitment, we have been able to implement action plans that drive meaningful change

Reducing carbon emissions across the value chain

Decarbonisation requires coordinated action at every stage of production. That’s why we focus on system‑wide initiatives, not isolated improvements. Beyond our own operations, we work with partners to reduce impact at scale:

  • 54% of knitwear factories have signed a decarbonisation action plan.

  • Our logistics partner, DSV in Germany, operates one of the country’s largest rooftop solar installations.

  • We fund wind and solar projects to avoid around 800,000 tonnes of CO₂ each year.

These initiatives support long‑term reduction rather than short‑term offsets.

The importance of measurement

Reducing impact requires clear tracking and measurement. This allows us to understand where emissions occur and to develop concrete actions to drive improvements.

In 2025, we began communicating about the environmental footprint of our individual products.

This Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data is publicly available on 113 styles, quantifying carbon emissions and water use associated to each product.

Certified materials and transparent sourcing

The integrity of every garment starts by sourcing the right materials. We use 100% organic cotton and recycled fibres across our collection, supported by globally recognised certifications including GOTS, GRS and OEKO-TEX©.

Transparency is built into the process. Clear sourcing provides visibility from fibre to finished product, reinforcing accountability at every stage. This scrutiny on material sourcing also impacts the quality of our garments. Stronger fibres ensure higher quality, more durable construction, and longer life span of each garment, reducing the need for frequent replacement.

Earth Day as a moment for collective progress

Earth Day is a moment to reflect on the responsibility that we share in driving positive change for the textile industry. Reducing emissions requires commitment, collaboration and transparency over time. At Stanley/Stella, decarbonisation is already underway: supported by data, driven by action and strengthened through long‑term partnerships.
