Stanley & Stella

Stanley is witty and rebellious. Stella is a jazz-baby, mild and sweet. You might remember them from the classic fifties movie ‘A streetcar named desire’. That film left an enduring image of a young Marlon Brando who, playing the part of Stanley, wore his t-shirts like no man had ever done before. An image that elevated the humble t-shirt into an iconic fashion statement and a means of expression for every generation since.

Today’s t-shirt carries a message that’s more powerful than ever. A message which demonstrates that looking good can also symbolise having responsible values.

Stanley & Stella are pioneers in the imprint market, producing fashionable, premium, print-ready apparel in a sustainable way. All the way. From selection of fibres, manufacturing , distribution and packaging right through to presenting it as yours. We make clothes people love. Because they’re designed to complement the human physique. And produced by a workforce who are fairly rewarded. So you know when you put your name on our garments, you can do so with pride.

Fashionable

Stanley & Stella is fashion-conscious clothing realised through original design and dedication to detail. With cuts and colours aligned with current trends, our innovative creations beg attention from those who care what they wear. Coordinated sets of items for men, women, teenagers and children mean everybody can share the same look.

Premium

Stanley & Stella is uncompromised premium quality throughout. From the range of styles, cuts, fabrics and colours we offer through to construction and decoration. Quality that comes from dedicated attention to every detail through every aspect of every production phase. The quality and care that goes into our clothes reflects our values as a company. As does the outstanding quality of service that comes with them, because we believe that’s what you deserve.

Sustainability is more than a label

Stanley & Stella was conceived from a belief that the textiles industry has to start acting a lot more responsibly. As we see it, change is the only option. And that starts with being aware that every purchasing choice can make a difference. We are committed to genuine sustainability right through our supply chain. Our affiliation with Fairwear Foundation (Corporate Social Responsibility) as well as our high standard certifications (GOTS, OCS 100, OCS Blended, OEKO TEX, REACH) prove our commitment to sustainable practices.

In June 2014 we joined www.canopystyle.org to protect endangered forests.
See the Stanley & Stella Policy for wooden fibers.

From fibre sourcing to distribution of the finished product, we scrutinise every process and every supplier for sustainability. Below you can find an overview of our efforts.

Raw Materials

GOTS, OE Blended, OE 100

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognised as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain, including restricting the use of chemical substances and requiring compliance with social criteria.

OE Blended applies to all goods that contain a mix of organic cotton and any other material. The OE 100 tracks the purchase, handling and use of 100% certified organic cotton fibres in yarns, fabrics and finished goods through the use of transaction certificates for factories that don’t yet comply to the GOTS standard.

Organic Cotton

Cotton grown without GM seeds, without harmfull and polluting pesticides and fertilizers with a better water management. We pay a premium and decent crop price or wages. Cotton is alternated with food crops, giving farmers more diverse income while improving food security within the local community. Organic production preserves the soil, while conventional cotton production destroys it.

Tencel®

Super-soft-feeling fibre made from sustainably sourced wood pulp. Fiber production itself is extremely eco-friendly, due to the close loop recycling system.

Lenzing ® Modal

The Softer Botanic Fibre. Modal is a man-made regenerated cellulosic fibre made from sustainably cultivated forest plantations of beech wood trees transformed into pulp and fibre through the unique Edelweiss technology, based on oxygen-based chemistry. Lenzing Modal is the only sustainable Modal in the world today.

Linen

Skin Microclimate Fibre. Linen is a natural cellulosic fibre from the flax plant, wanted by most high-end stylists because it has exceptional coolness and freshness in hot weather and unrivalled ventilated comfort. Produced without waste, and using less energy, less water, linen does not harm nature. 100% biodegradable.

Ginning

Cotton ginning waste -> food for animal industry
Cotton Oil -> Food industry

Fabrication

The fabrication process promotes low-energy consumption machines, renewable located generated power.
Alternative use found for all by-products. Nothing is wasted.
